DPI Comparison Tool — Compare 400, 800, 1600 & 3200 DPI
Compare hardware sensitivity presets against your custom baseline. Inspect relative motion multipliers, coordinate density, and display behavior.
All relative speed multipliers below will be calculated against this baseline (1.0×).
| DPI Stage | Counts / Inch | Counts / CM | Relative Speed | Sample Density Simulation |
|---|
A 1600 DPI setting produces twice as many positional coordinates per inch as 800 DPI (2.0× speed). On identical Windows/game sensitivity settings, the cursor travels twice as far.
2. Understanding Relative DPI Scaling
DPI scaling is strictly linear. Comparing any two DPI values is done with simple division:
Setting your reference to 800 DPI means 400 DPI is 0.5×, 1600 DPI is 2.0×, and 3200 DPI is 4.0×.
3. Visual Coordinate Sample Density
400 DPI (Low)
Arm Aiming- ✓High mechanical stability and crosshair control.
- ✓Zero accidental micro-jitter during tense aiming.
- !Requires large mousepad and arm recentering.
1600 DPI (High)
Wrist / Fast- ✓Minimal physical wrist travel during desktop navigation.
- ✓Lower sensor input latency and micro-step delays.
- !Requires lower in-game multiplier to maintain control.
4. What DPI Should I Use?
There is no universally single best DPI. Choice depends on your physical movement style, monitor resolution, desk space, and whether you prefer arm aiming or wrist aiming.
