Understanding Pointer Path Deviation
Path deviation represents the orthogonal distance between your cursor's instantaneous coordinate position and the ideal target trajectory line. High jitter or irregular sensor ripple often manifests as high frequency deviations even during steady physical hand swipes.
If your tracking efficiency is consistently below 85% on linear paths, check your mouse sensor lens for dust fibers, verify that your mousepad surface is flat, and ensure your DPI is not set excessively high where sensor noise increases.
- Path efficiency measures ideal theoretical distance divided by actual user traversal distance.
- High mean deviation can highlight sensor smoothing, sensor jitter, or surface friction inconsistency.
