Display Scale Calibration & Preparation
Because different monitor panels feature distinct physical pixel densities (PPI), calibrating an on-screen reference ruler ensures accurate display scale correlation.
Clear Space
Remove obstacles for smooth travel.
Place Ruler
Align tape or ruler on mousepad.
Index Mouse
Align left sensor edge with 0 cm.
Straight Line
Glide straight without lifting.
Multi-Trial
Record 3 runs for average.
On-Screen Ruler Calibration
Hold a physical credit card (85.6 mm / 8.56 cm) or desk ruler against the blue bar below. Adjust the slider until they match exactly.
Real Mouse Testing Console
TARGET TRAVEL: 20 cm
Move your mouse in a straight horizontal line along your desk ruler.

Czy strona internetowa może automatycznie wykryć DPI myszy?
Żadna przeglądarka nie ma bezpośredniego dostępu do rejestrów oprogramowania myszy ze względów bezpieczeństwa. To narzędzie koreluje pokonany dystans z impulsami PointerEvent, aby precyzyjnie oszacować DPI.
How this In-Browser DPI Test Works
DPI stands for Dots Per Inch (or more accurately, Counts Per Inch). When you move your mouse across your desk, the optical or laser sensor captures surface images and transmits raw integer displacement deltas ($\Delta X, \Delta Y$) to your operating system.
By swiping your mouse across a calibrated physical distance (such as 20 cm or 2 inches), our engine aggregates all incoming movementX reports via the Pointer Lock API. The mathematical estimation formula is:
Configured DPI vs. Estimated DPI
It is essential to understand the distinction between:
- Configured DPI: The nominal integer value programmed into your mouse hardware (e.g. 400, 800, 1600) via companion software like Logitech G HUB, Razer Synapse, or a physical DPI toggle switch.
- Estimated DPI: The empirical value derived during testing. Minor variances (±2–5%) are normal due to mouse feet friction, lens manufacturing tolerances, and ruler alignment.
How to Get the Most Reliable Estimate
- Use a 20 cm or longer swipe: Longer travel distances reduce the proportional impact of starting and stopping marker alignment errors.
- Disable Windows Mouse Acceleration: Ensure "Enhance Pointer Precision" is disabled in Windows mouse control settings.
- Perform at least 3 trials: Check the multi-trial consistency score to confirm low variance across repeated movements.
- Websites observe pointer movement coordinates and event timestamps rather than reading internal firmware registers directly.
- Calibrating against a real desk ruler provides an accurate estimate of your true sensor DPI stage.
- Use longer test distances (20–30 cm) and perform 3 to 5 trials to achieve high statistical consistency.
- All data is processed 100% locally in your browser with zero network transmission.
