1. What Is Mouse Acceleration?

Mouse acceleration is an operating system or software setting where your on-screen cursor displacement depends not only on how far you physically move your mouse, but also on how fast you move it.

  • DPI (Hardware): Measures physical sensor resolution (how many pulses per inch). Remains constant at all speeds.
  • Sensitivity (Software): A fixed constant multiplier (e.g. 1.5×) that scales sensor pulses into camera rotation.
  • Acceleration (Dynamic Curve): A variable multiplier that increases dynamically as hand speed increases.

In tactical shooters (CS2, Valorant), consistent muscle memory requires pure spatial reproducibility. If crosshair rotation changes based on hand panic or swipe speed, landing consistent micro-flicks becomes difficult.
