Mouse DPI Profiles & Profile Switching Guide
A practical guide to configuring mouse onboard memory slots, understanding software game hooks, and locking static DPI stages to eliminate sensitivity shifts.
1. What Are Mouse DPI Profiles?
A DPI Profile is a stored bundle of settings—including DPI stages (e.g. 400, 800, 1600), USB polling rate (1000 Hz), button macros, and RGB lighting configurations.
2. Why Automatic Profile Switching Causes Aim Inconsistency
Modern companion apps try to detect which game window is active. However:
- Alt-Tab Desync: Tabbing out to Discord or a browser can revert the mouse to the Desktop profile, which may fail to switch back when returning to the match.
- Anti-Cheat Blocks: Kernel anti-cheats (such as Riot Vanguard) can restrict background companion apps from polling foreground window handles.
3. Onboard Hardware Memory vs Software Profiles
Settings are written into physical EEPROM inside the mouse. Works instantly on any PC with zero companion software running.
Requires background companion apps to remain running at all times, consuming CPU RAM and introducing profile switching desyncs.
4. How to Lock a Single Static DPI Stage
- Open your mouse companion software (G HUB, Synapse, GG).
- Go to the DPI settings tab and delete extra DPI notches until only 1 stage remains (e.g. 800 DPI).
- Toggle Onboard Memory Mode to ON and select Slot 1.
- Close or exit the companion software.
