What does movement consistency tell you about your mouse?
Movement consistency measures how reliably your mouse produces the same count delta when moved across an identical physical desk distance. Low variation (<5%) indicates stable sensor tracking without packet loss, while high variation (>12%) points to surface tracking loss, cable drag, or uncompensated mouse acceleration.

Why Repeated Trials Matter
A single measurement trial can be influenced by human motor tremor, ruler edge misalignment, or stopping hesitation. By averaging 5 consecutive trials, standard deviation and range variance reveal whether your hardware sensor delivers stable tracking repeatability.
- Variance under 5% reflects high hardware consistency and uniform sensor tracking.
